Study strategies

Are you the type of student who does well on exams but struggles on midterms? This may be due to issues with retention of previously learned skills. If skills or knowledge about a topic fade over time you will find it harder and harder to move on to more advanced topics.

In order to circumvent this, study in smaller, more manageable chunks of time rather than cramming for exams. Long term memory increases when we make frequent contact with material. By taking some time each evening after school to reread class notes, for no more than 10-15 minutes, you will drastically improve your memory of content.

Some other examples of study strategies:

  1. Try using a concept map to connect various vocabulary words and topics

  2. Quizlet exams
